There are many different types of people who work in the adult industry today. Some of these people include customers, models, performers, counsellors and others. Regardless of what the title of your position may be, there are certain common traits that all people working in this type of industry share. These are:
Provider: The provider is most commonly a non-face-to-face individual, and often it is used primarily on the Internet where it describes a company that provides some kind of specific services related to the adult industry. Woman: A more generic term, a woman is generally not meant to be condescending or demeaning. Instead, this term is intended to describe the customers or clients who contact the escorts. In addition, there are some men who serve as providers, but only to transport women or girls from one place to another.
Mistress: Usually, the word “mistress” is used to refer to adult entertainment distributors or brokers. These people are typically female and are in charge of planning a client’s experience with an adult industry service. Common clients of an escort are those who wish to have some form of sexual activity performed in public, such as masturbation, sex toys and others.
Escort: The term “escort” is usually used to describe adult work that takes place outside of the home, such as adult movies and adult clubs. While not all businesses in the adult industry fall under this category, many do. An escort is someone who is employed by an adult video store, club, adult massage parlor, etc. There are also many web sites offering “naughty” services in this same niche, which is also under the “escort” umbrella.
Managers: Managerial and executive-type jobs are found in almost every type of business in the adult industry besides the sex industry. Managers are responsible for running the day-to-day operations of a business, such as ordering supplies, billing clients, greeting customers, making deals with others, among others. A manager can often take on other responsibilities as needed or as directed by his clients. Most managers have their own office, which can be found in a variety of locations.
The above descriptions are just a small sample of the jobs found in the adult industry other than those described above. Of course, any employee who performs work related to the production of pornography is automatically considered an escort. Other jobs commonly offered by escort agencies and other sources include but are not limited to sexy massage, fetish dancing, exotic dancing, hen nights and bachelorette parties. Some escorts choose to work freelance, and earn money by doing small tasks. This can be a great way to get started working in the adult industry as well as a great way to supplement your income, especially if you have a criminal background and/or court ordered fines that prevent you from holding down a job.
